  ShopRite Of Metro Plaza is probably the only supermarket in or near downtown Jersey City. This is a 7-10 mins walk from the Grove Street path station and about 12-15 mins walk from the Newport path station. You get everything from biscuits to meat to fruits to Vegetables here. They have a wide variety of spread and the vegetables and fruits are always fresh. It has a bakery where they bake fresh muffins and different breads. It also have a section for fresh meat and this sometimes had a pretty long waiting especially on Sundays. The liquor store is the life saves and the prices here are comparable to Super Buy Rite and had a lot of spot offers which is great. Overall we can get everything here for our day to day needs.

  This 5 stars go literally for the service. The guy with glasses serving the aisle 23 is just an amazing human being. Making everyone feel comfortable with their shopping. So kind made my day

  ShopRite of Metro Plaza is downtown Jersey City’s only major supermarket and meets that responsibility handily. This grocer’s strong suit is it’s excellent value and great selection. It’s shortcomings are long cashier and deli lines during peak hours.

  Located only minutes from the Grove St PATH station and downtown area, and with plenty of (free) parking, you won’t have a hard time getting to or from this spot.

  The store can get quite busy but if you can avoid Sunday afternoons, or the few days leading up to a holiday weekend, then you‘ll meet little resistance. They’ve recently added self-checkout lanes to address cashier congestion, and it’s done a good job. Expect to occasionally encounter above average waits at the deli or seafood counter.

  The store offers a wide selection of pretty much everything, as you’d expect from a major supermarket. They also have a generously sized liquor store, as well as a whole food/healthy food aisle.

  Overall I highly recommend this grocery store as it’s the only truly affordable option in downtown Jersey City. While boutique spots like Sprove (a few blocks down the street) routinely mark up items as much as 100%, ShopRite is almost always fairly priced. Just be prepared to wait a bit longer in return.

  Has most of the items you would hope for from a grocery store but it sometimes misses out on quality. The fresh produce isn’t so great and very few healthier options in the bakery items.

  Always enjoy shopping here. Good variety and good quality, good value too. Bakery, cheese, milk and eggs are my favorite. Staff are usually hardworking and energetic, except sometimes during the pandemic which is understandable.

  Grocery store that has some cheaper deals on items, fewer name brands and skus so that makes it easier to keep stock and large widr aisles and open space which seems inefficient but at the same time they’re only selling a certain number of things which keeps them hopefully cost-effective. The freezers have covers, and they sell their own store brand for a lot of items. Stock is thin on popular items. No watermelons left at 4.99 each.

  Always fresh and quick check out is a plus. I generally go here for everyday items and on occasion when entertaining guest. There store brand cheese is amazing and the vegetables and fruit are always fresh. That is a great addition to any table just add wine 🍷 😉

  This reminds me of the grocery stores from when I lived in Europe. It’s nice to walk through something that feels like my old home. The other perks are that there are European goods (including European chocolate!) sold here. I’m also a fan of their prices. Many out of season fruits are less expensive here than they are at the traditional grocery stores. I love buying a lot of my groceries here. The downside is that they don’t have a lot of different spices for sale. They do have a lot of their own brand items as well as knock off girl scout cookies!

  This place must have the best meats available, because they’re nearly triple the price of anywhere else! 5 chicken drumsticks for almost 12 dollars. Is that almost 2.25 each? Wow!
  It’s even out of the way, if you don’t drive.
  Staff at self check out are always rude, never wish the customer a good day.

  Been going here for over 20 plus years even when it was Pathmark. Clean. Well stocked. Most employees are nice. Prices are somewhat reasonable…. such as sale items. Using ur app helps a lot. Will miss John the manager who’d worked there over 50 years. R.I.P. John.

  Love that the Acme is here always have a good selection of produce. Hate that they sell already frozen seafood as fresh seafood but other than that it’s a good location. Staff is pretty nice
